What is actually going on in VC today? It's complicated.
Follow me @samirkaji for my thoughts on the venture market, with a focus on the continued evolution of the VC landscape.
A few weeks ago, we (Allocate) hosted our annual LP/GP summit with over 100 LPs and 75 GPs. A key theme from conversations I had with both GPs and LPs was how difficult the VC market has been to figure out recently.
While most of the market continues feel the effects of an economic pullback we haven’t seen since the Global Financial Crisis, there are segments in the market that appear immune to the pullback.
Today, The venture capital market has a lot of contradictory signals today (I.e. valuations are down but AI valuations feel like 2021 again - see below for some of the largest AI deals, seed deals are down by #, but valuations are up).
Last week, we at hosted our semi-annual state of the market, and referred to the VC market as a “Tale of Two Cities”.
Here is the deck and video presentation of the our presentation.
