Demystifying Private markets: Announcing the Allocate substack

Over the past two years, I've had the pleasure of building the Venture Unlocked Podcast. With over 110 episodes, a 5-star rating on iTunes, and a rapidly growing subscriber base and download count, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. I am deeply grateful for your support and am excited about the lineup of guests we have planned for 2023.

Two years ago, I also co-founded a company named Allocate. Our mission is to provide the infrastructure that enables the private markets to operate with transparency, accessibility, and transactional ease (venture capital, arguably the most difficult asset category to solve for, is our primary focus today). Currently, accredited investors control $87 trillion in assets, which accounts for approximately 50% of total global assets. However, private investor capital only represents about 16% of total capital allocated to private funds. This discrepancy largely stems from barriers such as accessibility, education, and ease of use.

Given the expansion of the private markets (87% of companies with $100+ million in annual revenues remain private), we firmly believe that all eligible investors should have the opportunity to participate successfully and responsibly in private market investing.

To help demystify the private markets, I am thrilled to announce the launch of a new podcast. Unlike Venture Unlocked, this podcast will cover the broader private market landscape, including secondaries, private credit, private equity, and other emerging trends.
